About

The Holm Oak is an independent publishing company that hosts several academic journals. We comply with the Code of Conduct for Journal Editors (COPE) and Code of Conduct established by the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association, and ranked as a Green Publisher by SHERPA/RoMEO.

All of our Journals are fully Open Access: this means that the content we publish is freely available to everyone, anywhere in the world, regardless of affiliation. At The Holm Oak we believe that by maximizing the exposure of scientific research we are benefiting students, researchers, non-governmental organizations, policy-makers, and society in general.

All articles are published under a Creative Commons license: Attribution 4.0 International (CC-BY), therefore guaranteeing that authors retain the copyrights of their work. Authors who publish with The Holm Oak are encouraged to use, reuse and share their articles.

The Holm Oak has no payed subscriptions, nor payed contents or downloads, as all our costs are supported by the Article Processing Charges that are charged to the author when a manuscript is accepted for publication after the peer-review stage. The Article Processing Charges are established in each journal, and contribute to the running of the journal allowing us to guarantee that all articles will remain online and accessible to everyone. These charges are also used to support the whole publication and archiving process, including peer review, editing, proofreading and copy-editing, as well as hosting and maintenance of the journal archives.

Our purpose is to contribute to the reduction of the existing information bias towards the more developed parts of the world, democratizing the opportunities of publishing and accessing scientific research. Therefore, we will always consider applications for reduced Article Processing Charges, or Article Processing Charges waivers to authors who cannot afford them. We strongly advise all authors, institutions and libraries to join our membership programs for possible discounts and other advantages.
